中銀大廈是由建築大師貝聿銘所設計的，由於這地盤可發展的面積很少，因此若用常規的發展模式，這大廈便會變得又肥又矮，而且沒有海景的大廈。所以，貝聿銘便削減每層的面積，並將大廈升高，使這大廈變成當時的香港第一高樓。
Bank of China(HK) is designed by a famous Architect - Mr. I.M. Pei. This site has a limited development area. If this building was developed in an ordinary way, it will be a short and fat office building. Thus, I.M. Pei decided to reduce the floor area at each level so as to make this building becomes the tallest building in Hong Kong at that time.
